Dhaka: The names of four private colleges affiliated with the National University (NU) have been changed. A notification announcing the changes was issued today, signed by NU College Inspector (In-Charge) Nazim Uddin Ahmed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision to rename these colleges follows a directive from the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) under the Ministry of Education, which was issued on December 29 of last year. The revised names aim to better reflect the institutions’ identities and are part of an administrative update.
Under the new order, Pallabi Mohila Degree College located at Mirpur in Dhaka will now be known as Shahid Zia Mohila College. Similarly, Basail Degree College in Tangail has been renamed Basail Emdad Hamida College. In Rajshahi, Saleha-Imarat Degree College at Baghmara has been changed to Shankoa College. Meanwhile, Fulgazi Mohila College in Feni will now carry the name Begum Khaleda Zia Mahila College.
The notification further states that these changes will take effect immediately upon approval by the NU Vice-Chancellor. All departments and affiliated bodies of the National University have been instructed to implement the decision promptly.
