Four pedestrians injured in cylinder explosion at a cold storage in Ctg

Four pedestrians were injured in an ammonia gas cylinder explosion in city's Rajakhali area under the Bakalia thana here early today.

The incident occurred as the ground floor wall of the building of the cold storage collapsed on the injured persons following the explosion.

The injured were identified as Nur Hossain, 31, Robin, 22, Md Tareq, 28 and Md Mannan.

They were admitted to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), said Sub-Inspector Nurul Alam Ashek of the CMCH outpost.

Abdul Hamid Miah, Sub Assistant Director of Agrabad Fire Service, said seven units of the fire service department rushed the spot and brought the flame under control at 2.30am and the fire was fully doused at 5.30am.

He said the cold storage, which preserved dry fish after collecting it from different areas of the division.

The building was evacuated by the firefighters.
