Dhaka: The Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Mohammad Azaz, announced a collaborative effort involving four government bodies to address the persistent traffic congestion in the city. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Rajuk, and the MRT Project are set to join forces with DNCC in this initiative.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the announcement was made during Mohammad Azaz’s visit to the Bikalpa July 36 Expressway (300 feet) at Pragati Sarani. The visit was aimed at opening three corridors from the second U-turn to United International University and Rampura via Aftabnagar. Azaz emphasized that the opening of these corridors would significantly reduce traffic congestion in Pragati Sarani and its surrounding areas.
The ongoing construction work of the metro-rail project has exacerbated the traffic woes along various points of Pragati Sarani. In response, the DNCC administrator has directed the relevant authorities to establish diversions and service lanes to alleviate the problem.
Present during the visit were DNCC Chief Engineer Brigadier General Md Moin Uddin, Additional Chief Engineer Mohammad Arifur Rahman, and other concerned officials, who are set to play crucial roles in implementing these measures.
