Gazipur: At least four people were killed in separate incidents in Gazipur and Gopalganj districts last night.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, two individuals, Mehedi Sheikh, 25, and Hasib Gazi, 20, were crushed under the wheels of a train near Maheshpur rail station in Gopalganj. The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 pm when the Khulna-bound express train 'Ruposhi Bangla' hit them. Local residents discovered the severed body parts on the railway tracks the following morning and notified the police. Officer-in-Charge of Kashiani Thana, Md Mahfuzur Rahman, confirmed the incident and stated that police recovered the remains and handed them over to the victims' families after legal procedures were completed.
In another tragic accident, Md Zahid Hossain, 52, was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a pickup van near the Kaliganj-Ghorashal bypass. Zahid, who was a salesman for a private company in Ghorashal town, was heading towards Ghorashal at the time of the accident. The pickup van fled the scene, leaving Zahid dead on the spot.
Additionally, Matiur Rahman from the Jamalpur area in Kaliganj upazila died when a wall collapsed on him while he was sleeping in his earthen house. Matiur was an employee at Janata Jute Mill in the Ghorashal area.
The respective police stations have taken lawful measures in connection with these incidents.
