Chuadanga: Four individuals, including a couple, lost their lives due to electrocution in separate incidents in the Sadar and Damurhuda upazilas of Chuadanga district.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the first incident occurred in the Kaliabakri village of Damurhuda upazila, where farmer Liton Ali and his wife Lipa Khatun were electrocuted. The tragedy struck around 3 pm when Liton accidentally came into contact with a live electric wire while using an electric machine to cut grass for cattle. Dr. Mostafizur Rahman, a duty officer at the Damurhuda Upazila Health Complex, confirmed their deaths and noted the signs on their bodies were consistent with electrocution, suggesting they succumbed to an electric shock.
In a separate incident, Shafiqul Islam, also known as Baru, aged 48, met a fatal end while attempting theft in Loknathpur, Damurhuda upazila. Sheikh Mesbah Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of Damurhuda Police Station, reported that Shafiqul was electrocuted while trying to steal an electric motor from Keramat Ali’s house. He was cutting the power connection wires near a water tap when the accident occurred. The police have initiated necessary legal actions concerning the incident.
The fourth victim, Nasir Uddin, a 40-year-old easy-bike driver from Sadar upazila, died after accidentally contacting a live electric wire while charging his vehicle in Alukdia village. Maruf Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident, which took place around 12:30 pm.
