Four Detained with Large Quantity of Cement While Smuggling to Myanmar

Chattogram: The Coast Guard has detained four smugglers along with a large quantity of cement while being smuggled to Myanmar from the outer anchorage of Chattogram. The information was disclosed in a press release signed by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a team from the Coast Guard Outpost Patenga conducted an operation in the outer anchorage area of Chattogram at around 6:00 am. During the operation, the team detained four smugglers along with 550 sacks of cement worth approximately Tk 275,000. The smugglers were caught while transferring the cement from a cargo boat to a fishing boat, intending to smuggle it to Myanmar by evading customs duties and taxes.



The seized cement, fishing and cargo boats, and the detained individuals are currently under process for further legal action.
