Patharghata: A joint team of Coast Guard and police today arrested four alleged drug peddlers and seized eight kilograms of cannabis from the Kakchira Katakhali Bazar area under Patharghata upazila in Barguna district. The arrestees were identified as Md Kamruzzaman Babu, 32, Md Rubel Miah, 31, Md Shahin Bapery, 41, and Md Al Amin, 20.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was carried out after the authorities received a tip-off about the illegal drug activity in the area. Acting swiftly, the joint team conducted a raid that led to the arrest of the suspects along with the contraband.
In addition to the cannabis, the law enforcement officials recovered two digital weighing machines from the possession of the suspects, further indicating the scale of their operations. The authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover more details about the drug network in the region.
