Rangpur:The Special Response Battalion (SRB)-13 successfully arrested four individuals involved in the abduction of a schoolgirl from Gaibandha and rescued her from locations in Gaibandha and Rangpur.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested suspects include the primary accused, Md Tipu Mia, aged 25, along with Md Ali Akbar, 50, Md Bipul Mia, 27, and Md Belal Mia, 30. All are residents of Barbaldia (Natun Bandar) under the Sadar police station in Gaibandha. The victim, a ninth-grade student from the same village, was reportedly targeted by Tipu Mia, who would proposition her during her commutes to and from school.
On September 10, 2026, at 10:30 am, the schoolgirl was forcibly abducted by Tipu Mia and his accomplices while she was returning home from private tutoring. She was taken from the local Rupar Bazar area in an auto-rickshaw. Following this incident, her father filed a kidnapping case at the Gaibandha Sadar police station on September 16, 2026.
Acting on a tip-off, the SRB-13 team from Gaibandha Camp conducted an operation early today and apprehended Md Ali Akbar, Md Bipul Mia, and Md Belal Mia from their homes in Barbaldia (Natun Bandar) village at 2:45 am. Later, the team rescued the abducted schoolgirl and arrested the main suspect, Tipu Mia, at 6:30 am from the Katla Kachna (Botola Para) area in Rangpur city.
The rescued girl and the four arrested suspects have been handed over to Gaibandha Sadar police station for further legal action.
