Dhaka: Mohiuddin Ahmed, former Member of Parliament for Munshiganj-1, passed away on Tuesday evening at United Hospital in Dhaka. He was 75.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Mohiuddin, who was a long-serving president of the Sirajdikhan Upazila unit of the Awami League and an organizer of the Liberation War, died at approximately 6:30 pm, as confirmed by his family members.
Family sources reported that he had been admitted to the hospital due to illness. Mohiuddin had a notable political career, having served as a three-time upazila chairman and a five-time union parishad chairman. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter.
His funeral prayer, or namaz-e-janaza, will take place at the field of Malkhangar School and College in Sirajdikhan, after which he will be interred in the family graveyard in Kazirbagh.
Freedom fighter Abdul Quddus Dhiron Balen, commander of the Sirajdikhan Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad and a member of the district BNP executive committee, expressed that Mohiuddin Ahmed was held in high regard and cherished by the residents of Sirajdikhan.
