Dhaka: The government has appointed former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moinul Islam as Bangladesh Ambassador to Poland, suspending his post-retirement leave (PRL) with benefits. A gazette notification was issued today by the Ministry of Public Administration in this regard.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Moinul Islam has been appointed as ambassador for a two-year term starting on April 10, 2025. This appointment is conditional upon his severing all ties with any other profession, business, or employment with government, semi-government, or private organizations.
Moinul Islam was initially appointed as IGP on the night of August 6, following the fall of the Awami League government after a mass student-people uprising. However, on November 20, he was removed from the position, and retired police officer Baharul Alam was appointed as IGP in his place.
