Manikganj:Food Minister Afroza Khanam Rita emphasized the importance of sports in preventing drug addiction among youths and fostering the development of a healthy nation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made these comments while distributing prizes at the Ustad Mohammad Ali Memorial Football Tournament in Dautia village, Manikganj Sadar upazila. The event saw Masum Football Academy of Manikganj Sadar upazila emerge victorious against Jubo Kalyan Unnayan Sangha of Singair upazila with a score of 2-0 in the final match.
Present at the event were Manikganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mousumi Nasrin, Additional Superintendent of Police Abdullah Al Mamun, Manikganj District Sports Association Member Secretary Golam Kibria Sayeed, and Manikganj Press Club President Zahangir Alam Biswas. The champion team was awarded Tk 50,000, while the runner-up team received Tk 30,000. Eight teams participated in the tournament.
