Dhaka: Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Khulna University (KU) Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim emphasized the importance of language proficiency and technical skill development for individuals aspiring to work abroad. He made these remarks during a view-exchange meeting titled "Safe Migration to Saudi Arabia and Higher Education Opportunities in Japan," which took place at the Journalist Liakat Ali Auditorium of Khulna University on Saturday afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized jointly by the Khulna District Administration and Khulna Technical Training Centre (TTC). Speaking as the chief guest, Professor Karim highlighted that the population should be viewed as a resource rather than a burden, with the potential to drive national progress. He noted that despite being densely populated, Bangladesh is outperforming many other countries in various areas and emphasized the significant contribution of expatriates to the national economy.
Addressing educators from schools, colleges, and madrasas, Professor Karim stressed their vital role in shaping society and the nation. He urged them to provide proper guidance on language training, acquiring technical skills, and preparing for overseas employment. He also mentioned the facilities at KU, including a Modern Language Centre, which is being upgraded into an institute to offer language-learning opportunities for both KU students and external learners.
Professor Karim praised the initiatives of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) in ensuring language education and safe migration. BMET Additional Director General (Joint Secretary) Md Ashraf Hossain attended the event as a special guest, detailing the essential aspects of technical skills, foreign language requirements, and safe migration procedures for those seeking opportunities abroad.
Khulna TTC Principal Md Ziaur Rahman delivered the welcome speech, highlighting various training courses, capacity-building activities, and the institution's ongoing journey. The event was moderated by Umme Habiba Islam, Instructor (Computer) of Khulna TTC.
