Five Suspects Remanded in Connection to Murder of Criminal Mamun

Dhaka: A court here today placed five individuals, including the two shooters involved in the daylight murder of the listed criminal Tarik Saif Mamun, on a four-day remand each in relation to an arms case. The incident occurred in Old Dhaka's Sutrapur area on Monday.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the court order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Partho Bhodro after the police presented the accused-shooters Faruk and Robin, along with their accomplices Shamim, Rubel, and Yusuf-before the court. Authorities had sought a 10-day remand in a case filed under the Arms Act at the capital's Mohammadpur Police Station.

The arrests of Faruk, Robin, Shamim, and Rubel took place in Narsingdi on Tuesday night, while Yusuf was later apprehended in the capital's Rayerbazar area. The police recovered two foreign-made pistols, six rounds of bullets, two magazines, a motorcycle used in the crime, and Taka 1.53 lakh in cash from the suspects' possession.

The case was subsequently filed with the Mohammadpur Police Station. The police allege that Faruk and Robin carried out the murder of Mamun in broad daylight on Monday. Following the murder, they reportedly handed the firearms and ammunition to Rubel, who then transferred them to Yusuf.
