DHAKA, March 15, 2023 (BSS) - Police arrested five members of a snatching gang today during a drive in the capital's Khilkhet area.
Acting on secret information, police arrested the snatchers from in front of Banasree's Jamuna Future Park from Tuesday midnight until early morning today.
The arrested were Shakhawat Hossain Robin (35), Md Jahangir Jomaddar (44), Md Jamal Uddin (41), Md Ikbal Hossain Hawladar (35) and Md Raju (29).
Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Khilkhet police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Kazi Sahan Haque said the snatchers tactfully used to take people in private cars as passengers and robbed off them.
The arrested were members of a professional snatching gang.
Police seized a private car, black sunglass, ropes, towels and Tk 10,000 in cash from them.
