Dhaka: The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today confirmed five new COVID-19 infections in the country over a 24-hour period from 8 am Wednesday to 8 am Thursday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 253 samples were tested during this time, resulting in a positivity rate of 1.98 percent. The DGHS statement clarified that no deaths from COVID-19 were reported during this period, keeping the cumulative death toll since the pandemic began in 2020 at 29,526.
The first case of coronavirus in the country was detected on March 8, 2020. The first recorded death from the virus occurred ten days later, on March 18 of the same year.
