Perlis:The Five-Nation Stamp Exhibition in Perlis, Malaysia, slated for 2026, underscores the importance of philately in promoting international understanding by sharing history, culture, and heritage. The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, highlighted this as he officiated the event at Dewan 2020. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin emphasized that postage stamps, despite their modest size, carry significant stories of a country's history and culture, acting as 'small ambassadors' that foster connections between people and cultures globally. The exhibition is particularly significant as it coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP), established in 1926. The Raja of Perlis noted that Perlis is an appropriate venue to celebrate this milestone, gathering philatelists from the region in a spirit of camaraderie and collaboration. Participants from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Bangladesh are welcomed, with the R aja of Perlis expressing appreciation for the quality and diversity of the exhibits. He congratulated medal and award winners and expressed joy at the involvement of young exhibitors, which he believes assures the future of philately. The event also saw the presence of the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr. Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, and Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil. Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin expressed gratitude to various organizations, including the Philatelic Society of Malaysia, the Perlis State Government, the Communications Ministry, the Education Ministry, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Pos Malaysia, and other partners for their support. He hopes that the friendships formed at the exhibition will lead to further exchanges and cooperation in the future.
