Dhaka:Five people have died and 2,218 have been hospitalized after being infected with dengue in the last 24 hours till 800 am today, as per a regular report by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, with these five deaths, the total death toll from dengue this year has reached 389.
Among the newly hospitalized dengue patients, 942 were from Dhaka Division, 121 from Mymensingh Division, 240 from Chattogram Division, 284 from Khulna Division, 246 from Rajshahi Division, 113 from Rangpur Division, 232 from Barishal Division, and 40 from Sylhet Division.
The report indicates that a total of 126,166 dengue patients have been hospitalized across the country this year. Out of these, 119,393 dengue patients have recovered and returned home after receiving treatment.
Last year, a total of 102,861 people were reported to have been infected with dengue, and the disease claimed 413 lives.
