Five Dengue Patients Die, 490 Fresh Cases Detected Overnight

Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 490 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts, killing at least five persons in the past 24 hours. “We recorded deaths of five dengue patients in 24 hours ending at 8 am today,” a spokesman of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, adding his office simultaneously recorded 490 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts during the same period.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, DGHS statistics revealed that one death occurred in areas under Dhaka North City Corporation, two in Dhaka South City Corporation, and two in Mymensingh division. “Out of the 490 fresh cases, 58 were hospitalised in Barishal division, 88 in Chattogram division, 74 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 77 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 106 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 28 in Khulna division, 33 in Mymensingh division, 18 in Rajshahi division, five in Rangpur division and three in Sylhet division,” a DGHS statement said.



Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh has witnessed 391 deaths, while the disease has inflicted 96,062 people. Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives and affected 101,214 people in the country.
