Sitakunda: Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) arrested five individuals and seized five dredgers for illegally extracting sand in the Kumira and Banshbaria coastal areas under Sitakunda upazila. They were fined and released on bail through a mobile court.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was conducted based on secret information, with joint efforts involving teams from the BCG, Chattogram Port Authority, and Naval Police. The authorities targeted the individuals involved in unauthorized sand extraction, leading to the arrest and seizure.
The owner of the dredgers was fined Taka 1.5 lakh in the presence of the Executive Magistrate of Chattogram Port Authority. Following the legal procedure, the detainees were released on bail.
