Five Arrested in Connection with Munshiganj Auto Driver’s Murder

Munshiganj: Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the murder of auto rickshaw driver Md. Mujibar Majhi, 44, from different areas of the district.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accused have been identified as Sohag Molla, 43, son of Siraj Molla, and Iqbal Hossain Joy, 31, son of Ripon Sheikh, both residents of Sakhari Bazar. Also arrested were Harun, 51, son of Manik Sardar from Malir Pathar; Ali Hossain, 40, son of Awlad Hossain from Ramshing in Sadar upazila; and Imran, 30, son of Monir Hossain from Satkhari village in Tongibari upazila.



After the investigation, police revealed the involvement of these five individuals in the murder. On October 31, Mujibar had left the garage for a trip to Mawa in the Padma Bridge area and did not return. Three days later, on November 3, Mujibar’s body was discovered in a boat in the Ratanpur area of Sadar upazila.



On Wednesday, police arrested Sohag Molla, Iqbal Hossain Joy, and Imran based on secret information. During their interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in the murder. Subsequently, Harun Or Rashid and Ali Hossain were also arrested, as stated in a press release.



Sadar Police Station’s Inspector (Investigation), Sajib Dey, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
