First Division Hockey League Resumes After Three-Year Hiatus

Dhaka:First Division Hockey League will resume on Saturday, October 10, after a three-year pause, with eleven clubs competing at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium. Bachelors Sporting Club is set to face Farashganj Sporting Club in the opening match, followed by a game between Wari Club and Dhaka Young Star.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh Hockey Federation president Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan is expected to inaugurate the league as the chief guest. The league has been on hold for the past three years despite several attempts by the previous committee to restart it, as noted by First Division Hockey League Committee secretary Mohammad Yousuf Ali during a press conference.

The competing clubs include Wari Club, Hockey Dhaka United, PWD SC, Combined SC, Mukto Bihango Tarun Sangha, Bachelors SC, Farashganj SC, Shishu Kishor Sangha, Dhaka Wanderers Club, Rayer Bazar SC, and Dhaka Young Star Club. The league champions will earn promotion to the Premier Division, while the team finishing last will be relegated to the Second Division. Additionally, awards will be given to the league's best player and top scorer.

First Division Hockey League Committee joint secretary Ashraful Alam Bablu and Umpires Board secretary Nazirul Islam Nazu were also present at the press conference.
