Dhaka:Bangladesh Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, who also serves as the president of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation, inaugurated the First Division Hockey League-2026 at Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, he attended the ceremony as the chief guest and expressed his optimism about the regular organization of domestic hockey leagues in Bangladesh. He extended his gratitude to the government for its initiatives to enhance the sports sector in the country.
The Air Chief called on hockey clubs and sponsors to support the continuation of domestic hockey competitions. He urged players to adhere to fair play and discipline during the league and officially declared the league open.
This year's league features 11 clubs, including Wari Club, Hockey Dhaka United, PWD SC, Combined SC, Mukta Bihanga Tarun Sangha, Bachelors SC, Farashganj SC, Shishu Kishore Sangha, Dhaka Wanderers, Rayer Bazar SC, and Dhaka Young Star Club. The return of the league after a long break has excited players and hockey fans alike.
Senior officials from the Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Hockey Federation, and representatives and players from the participating clubs were present at the opening ceremony.
