Dhaka: The Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) has conducted a comprehensive two-day training programme focusing on fire safety and emergency response for members of the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB). The initiative aims to enhance the safety awareness and disaster preparedness of journalists who often find themselves in high-risk situations while covering emergencies.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the training, which took place on August 2-3 at the Fire Service headquarters in Dhaka, saw the participation of 48 CRAB members. A press release from the FSCD highlighted the importance of this initiative in equipping journalists with essential skills and practical knowledge necessary for their safety during emergency coverage.
Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal, the Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defence, inaugurated the programme, emphasizing the critical role of journalist safety and preparation in the field. The participants engaged in various practical exercises, including firefighting techniques, emergency rescue operations, first aid, earthquake preparedness, and personal safety measures.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including Director (Training, Planning and Development) Lt Col MA Azad Anwar, Deputy Director of Dhaka Division Md Saleh Uddin, Assistant Director (Training) Md Mostafa Mohsin, and CRAB General Secretary M M Badsha.
The training concluded on August 3, with certificates distributed to participants by Lt Col MA Azad Anwar, marking the successful completion of the programme.
