Khulna: A fire gutted valuables of five shops at Baitun Nur Shopping Complex near New Market in Khulna city early Tuesday. Witnesses said the fire started around 11:30 pm and locals informed Khulna Fire Service immediately.
According to United News of Bangladesh, six fire units of Khulna Fire Service brought the blaze under control by 1:15 am. Police, army, navy, and local residents helped firefighting teams to contain the blaze effectively. Khulna Fire Service Deputy Director Md Abdul Malek stated that units from Boyra and Tutpara collaborated to manage the situation.
The fire caused significant damage to five shops in the mall, with goods in two shops completely burned. An electrical short circuit is believed to be the cause of the fire. Additionally, electrical and internet cables in front of the mall were damaged. The total loss from the incident is still being assessed.
