Gazipur: Thirty-six dwelling houses were gutted in a fire that broke out at a colony in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district on Thursday. Md Nurul Karim, warehouse inspector of Gazipur Fire Service and Civil Defence, reported that the fire originated from a gas cylinder at a house in Mawna Uttarpara in the morning and quickly spread to the adjoining houses.
According to United News of Bangladesh, two firefighting units responded to the incident and managed to extinguish the blaze after nearly two hours. The fire consumed valuables, including cash, televisions, refrigerators, and furniture.
The total extent of the damage remains undetermined at this time.
