Dinajpur: A man and his wife lost their lives when their house caught fire, allegedly due to a gas cylinder leak, in Ashrampara area of Dinajpur city early Monday. The victims have been identified as Tapan Sarker, 45, and his wife Lota Sarker, 37.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the tragic incident occurred around 1am while the couple was asleep in a small room located on the second floor of a two-storey house. Obaidul Islam, the senior station officer of Dinajpur Fire Service, reported that locals noticed flames and smoke emanating from the room and promptly informed the Fire Service.
Fire Service personnel arrived swiftly at the scene and extinguished the blaze. They later discovered the charred bodies of the couple inside the room. Officials suspect that a gas cylinder leak might have been the cause of the fire.
The couple's bodies were released for cremation without conducting an autopsy, as there were no objections from family members, confirmed Kotwali Police Station.
