Chattogram:A fire erupted in two abandoned train carriages at the SRB Station located in the Majhirghat Bangla Bazar area of the port city.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the blaze was first reported around 547 pm. Fire Service personnel quickly responded to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control by 645 pm.

Locals noted that the carriages, having been unused for several years, had become a frequent gathering spot for drug addicts. Earlier this year, in April, a similar fire incident occurred involving two carriages at the same site.

The Agrabad control room of the Fire Service confirmed that one firefighting unit from the Bandar Station and two units from the Agrabad Station were dispatched to handle the situation. Fortunately, the fire was successfully extinguished without further incident.

Officials from the Chattogram Port Fire Station stated that the carriages contained minimal furniture, and only one of them was partially damaged. The precise cause of the fire remains unknown pending further investigation.
