Fire Causes Extensive Damage to Eight Shops in Pirojpur

PIROJPUR: A fire that broke out in Sriramkathi Bazar in the Nazirpur upazila of Pirojpur district destroyed eight shops last night, causing significant financial losses. The blaze, which is believed to have started due to an electric short circuit, was brought under control after a concerted effort by firefighters and local residents. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fire began around 11:30 pm, originating from an electrical fault in one of the shops at Sriramkathi Bazar. The flames quickly spread to nearby establishments, causing substantial damage before being contained. Nazirpur Fire Service Station Officer Soayeb Hossain reported that three firefighting units responded to the incident and managed to extinguish the fire with assistance from locals and affected shop owners after approximately one hour of effort. The shop owners have estimated the damage to be around Taka 50 lakh. The fire has left a significant impact on the local business community, as the affected shops are crucial to their livelihoods.
