Barishal: A fire that broke out at the Global Capsule factory of Opsonin Pharmaceuticals in the Rupatali area of Barishal on Monday afternoon has been brought under control. The blaze, which originated in a part of the factory around 4:30pm, sparked panic among employees and nearby residents.
According to United News of Bangladesh, five units of the Barishal Fire Service rushed to the spot and controlled the fire after about two and a half hours. Station Officer Rabiul Islam stated that the fire is believed to have started inadvertently among wood logs stored for use in the factory's boiler. He noted that since the logs are highly flammable, the fire spread quickly, but the team managed to contain it.
No casualties have been reported so far from the incident. Authorities have announced that an investigation is underway to assess the damage and determine the exact cause of the fire. Preparations will be made to resume factory operations once the situation normalizes.
