Final Preparations for February Elections Confirmed by Chief Election Commissioner

Dhaka: Final preparations are underway to hold the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections in the first half of next February, said Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nasir Uddin announced, “We are taking all necessary preparations to hold the elections in the first half of February before Ramadan next year,” during a press conference at his office at Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon. He emphasized the importance of conducting a historic election, stating that the chief adviser, currently in New York, is committed to a democratic transition of power.



Nasir Uddin called for media support to ensure a successful election. He urged the media to communicate the commission’s commitment to abiding by legal and constitutional guidelines and highlighted the necessity of impartiality in the electoral process. “We want to follow a straight path. We want to work impartially. You should present this thing, our statement to everyone,” he emphasized.



The CEC also pointed out the crucial role of political parties in the election process. “Political parties are our main stakeholders. It is not possible to hold a fair election without their cooperation,” he stated, noting that the government is actively engaging with these parties to reach a consensus. He mentioned the extension of the Consensus Commission, expressing hope that political parties will come together to facilitate a fair election.
