Dhaka: National Consensus Commission Vice Chairman Professor Ali Riaz today announced that the final draft of the July Charter is being dispatched to political parties, highlighting the charter as a reflection of the collective opinions of all involved parties. Political parties have been instructed to submit the names of two individuals authorized to sign the charter by 5:00 pm on September 13.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Riaz made these remarks while briefing journalists following a discussion between the Commission and political parties on the implementation of the July National Charter at the Doel Hall of the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka. The meeting was moderated by Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Monir Haider, with commission members Justice Emdadul Hoque, Badiul Alam Majumdar, Iftekharuzzaman, and Ayub Mia present.

Professor Riaz reported that today’s discussions with political parties resulted in a consensus on two main issues concerning the charter’s implementation process. He stated that the interim government might issue ordinances to execute recommendations that do not necessitate constitutional amendments. Moreover, recommendations that can be enacted through administrative orders or regulations by the government or relevant authorities may be implemented by the interim government and the respective bodies.

He further mentioned that the government and concerned authorities have already initiated the implementation process through ordinance issuance and other necessary steps. Around 30 political parties, including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, NCP, and Islami Andolan, participated in the discussion.
