Festivity continues as offices resume after Eid vacation in Rajshahi

As all the government, semi-government and private offices including banks and financial institutions resumed here today after a five-day Eid vacation, officials were seen to attend offices in a festive mood. On the first day of office, low attendance of staff was found as many people were on leave aligning their holiday with the Eid vacation. People got a five-day Eid-ul-Fitr vacation including two-day weekend and Pahela Baishakh holiday this year. Attendance at the city bhaban, the offices of divisional commissioner and deputy commissioner, rail bhaban, water development board, sericulture building, RAKUB headquarters, RDA bhaban, barendra bhaban, RMP headquarters and Roads and Highway building was relatively thin as more than half of the officers and employees are on vacation. Officials said actually the offices and courts will get life either within the next couple of days or on Sunday after the next two-day weekend. However, some people were seen rushing to their respective offices to dispose off t heir pending urgent works on the opening day today. A festive mood is seen prevailing at most of the offices. Officials and employees were seen exchanging Eid greetings and hugging each other. The people who went to their village homes to celebrate the Eid with their relatives have started to return to the city to join work. City streets still remain free from the usual traffic jam. Many people, especially the teenagers, are still enjoying the festivity of the Eid in the city. They were seen visiting the amusement spots, especially the bank of the river Padma, with enthusiasm and joy.
