Dhaka: The election to the Board of Directors of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 terms has been deferred by another 45 days by the Ministry of Commerce. This decision necessitates the announcement of a new election schedule, which the FBCCI election board is expected to release soon. The delay adds a significant extension to the timeline for electing leaders to the apex trade body in Bangladesh. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the FBCCI had initially planned to conduct the election on September 7, 2025, as per the schedule announced by the election board on June 18, 2025. The Ministry of Commerce's decision to defer the election now shifts this timeline, prompting the FBCCI to adjust its plans accordingly. The reasons for the deferment were not disclosed in the press release issued by the FBCCI today.
