Titas:A man in Titas upazila of Cumilla was allegedly beaten to death by his son during a dispute over money on Saturday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the victim, Nurul Islam Shanti, 65, was from Yusufpur village in the Karikandi Union. His son, Mamitul Islam Rajon, 28, was apprehended by locals and handed over to the police after the incident.
Witnesses reported that the father and son began arguing over money around noon, which escalated into a physical altercation. Nurul Islam Shanti lost consciousness during the fight and subsequently died. Locals detained Rajon and contacted the police, who arrived at the scene and recovered Nurul's body.
The body of the deceased was transported to the morgue at Cumilla Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. Rajon was taken into custody by the police.
Mahimul Islam Mohon, the elder son of the deceased, stated that he was at work at a bKash shop in Gharmora of Homna upazila when he learned of the incident. Upon returning home, he found his father dead. He also mentioned that Rajon, previously employed at a pharmacy in Gouripur Bazar, was currently unemployed.
Officer-in-Charge Md Momirul Haque of Titas Police Station noted that there were no visible injuries on Nurul's body, and the actual cause of death would be determined following the autopsy results.
