Dhaka: In his first political speech after joining the BNP, Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho declared that the fascist system will be permanently abolished under the leadership of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho, twin brother of July martyr Mir Mugdho, was warmly welcomed amid an emotional and jubilant atmosphere in the Bogura-2 (Shibganj) constituency. He participated in a student-people’s rally at Mir Mugdho Square in Shibganj upazila, Bogura, organized by the upazila and municipal units of BNP.

Upon his arrival at the venue, thousands of students and locals, accompanied by hundreds of motorcycles, escorted him in a procession from the historic Mahasthangarh to the rally ground. The event was chaired by Mir Shahe Alam, a BNP nomination aspirant from Bogura-2 (Shibganj).

Addressing the rally, Mir Snigdho expressed his honor in delivering his first political speech in Shibganj’s Mahasthangarh. He accused “Killer Hasina” of murdering his brother along with 2,000 others and injuring 20,000 more. He further stated that the BNP had been the worst sufferer of enforced disappearances, killings, and oppression under Hasina’s rule.

Mir Snigdho shared his inspiration from the leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia, which led him to join the BNP. He also claimed to have rejected a “blank cheque” offer from “killer Hasina” after his brother’s death, emphasizing their refusal to compromise with Hasina and asserting that she must face justice in the country.

He concluded by stating that by uniting July fighters and young people across the nation to implement Tarique Rahman’s 31-point agenda, the fascist system would be eradicated forever. Mir Shahe Alam, in his address, highlighted that BNP is the strongest force of July and that Mir Snigdho’s joining the BNP as the brother of Shaheed Mir Mugdho reaffirmed this truth.

Shaheed Mir Mugdho was shot dead by police while providing water to July fighters, and his final words, “Pani lagbe, pani” (“Anyone needs water, water”), resonated with many.
