Dhaka: BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Zainul Abdin Farroque today demanded the interim government to declare an election roadmap immediately. “The role of elected peoples’ representatives is very crucial to face any kind of conspiracy against the country,” he stated at a protest rally organized by the Bangladesh Civil Rights Movement.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the rally was organized in protest against what was described as an Indian conspiracy, propaganda, and activity against Bangladesh’s sovereignty. The event took place in front of the Jatiya Press Club. Farroque accused the ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of encouraging extremists from India, which he claims is causing instability within the interim government.

Farroque further alleged that extremists attacked the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission at Agartala with the aim of destabilizing the interim government. However, he expressed confidence that the citizens of Bangladesh would resist any conspiracy against the nation.

The
rally was presided over by the Convener of the Bangladesh Civil Rights Movement, M. Jahangir Alam, and conducted by its Member Secretary, Mofazzal Hossain. Other prominent figures present included central BNP leaders Abu Naser Mohammad Rahmatullah and Shah Mohammad Nesarul Haque.
