Dhaka: A farmer died after being electrocuted while connecting an electric irrigation pump to water his farmland in Bhurungamari upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Ashraful Alam, 45, son of late Gonjer Ali Akand of Uttar Bharater Chhara area under Bangasonahat union of the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, police reported that Ashraful went to his farmland around noon to connect the electrical line to an irrigation pump. During this process, he was electrocuted accidentally and sustained critical injuries.
Family members quickly rescued him and transported him to Bhurungamari Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician declared him dead upon arrival. Bhurungamari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azim Uddin confirmed the incident.
