Dhaka: The sugarcane plantation programme for the 2026-27 season has been inaugurated at Faridpur Sugar Mill. The programme commenced with the planting of sugarcane using the rope method at the land of farmer Md Muktar Hossain under unit number 9 of the Mill Gate-B sub-zone.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the plantation programme was inaugurated by the Secretary of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC), Mohammad Mujibur Rahman, who attended the event as the chief guest. The event also witnessed the presence of Faridpur Sugar Mill Managing Director, Agriculturist Tareq Farhad, along with officials, employees, leaders of the labour union, and representatives of the Sugarcane Growers Welfare Association.
Farmers expressed enthusiasm and excitement at the start of the sugarcane plantation season. The concerned authorities have expressed optimism that production could be increased this season through the adoption of modern methods of sugarcane cultivation.
