Families of July Uprising Martyrs to Receive Dignified Rehabilitation: Faruk E Azam

Chattogram: Liberation War Affairs Adviser Faruk E Azam today announced the government’s commitment to rehabilitate the families of those injured and killed during the July uprising with the highest dignity. He made these remarks during the inauguration of street memory stamps at Bahaddarhat and Muradpur intersections in Chattogram.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the initiative, a collaboration between the Chattogram City Corporation and the district administration, is designed to honor the martyrs of the July-August mass uprising. Faruk E Azam emphasized the establishment of permanent memorials at 864 sites nationwide where martyrs lost their lives, with the aim of preventing future governments from adopting authoritarian practices by keeping the memory of these sacrifices alive.



Addressing questions regarding the trial of the July massacre, Azam stated that the trial is progressing swiftly, with the objective of completing the judicial process while adhering to international standards. He assured that transparency is being maintained through live broadcasts of the trials.



He also announced plans for the government to establish a dedicated department to provide maximum support to the families of the injured and deceased from the July incident. This department will focus on improving their living conditions and ensuring they do not face inhumane hardships, helping them to live dignified and secure lives.



The event saw the attendance of Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin, Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam, and various officials from different administrative levels.
