Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir departed Dhaka this morning, heading to Singapore for medical treatment. Fakhrul, accompanied by his wife Rahat Ara Begum, left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at approximately 8:40 am, as confirmed by his Personal Secretary M Yunus Ali.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul is scheduled to undergo treatment in Singapore for various health issues. The BNP secretary general plans to return to Bangladesh after a week. This trip marks another instance of Fakhrul seeking medical attention in Singapore, following a diagnosis of an internal carotid artery problem in 2015 during his imprisonment in a political case.

Upon his release from jail, Fakhrul traveled to Singapore for treatment and has continued annual visits for follow-up care since then.
