Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has left Dhaka for Singapore to undergo a routine health check-up. Accompanied by his wife, Rahat Ara Begum, Fakhrul departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on a Singapore Airlines flight at 11:55 pm on Monday, as confirmed by the minister’s Assistant Private Secretary, Md. Younus Ali.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is expected to return to Bangladesh after a week. His routine visits to Singapore stem from a medical issue identified in 2015, when he was diagnosed with a blockage in an artery in his neck while he was in prison. Following his release, Fakhrul sought treatment in Singapore and has been regularly visiting the country for follow-up check-ups since then.
