Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today paid rich tributes to Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, popularly known as “Majlum Jananeta (the leader of the downtrodden)” on his 48th death anniversary tomorrow. ‘Maulana Bhasani will remain the source of inspiration in the struggle for the rights of the deprived people for the ages,’ Fakhrul stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Maulana Bhasani was a prominent advocate for the rights of deprived people. Fakhrul emphasized Bhasani’s role as a friend of the oppressed and described him as a vocal protester against imperialism and hegemony as well as oppressive rulers and exploitative groups. He asserted that ‘Maulana Bhasani is an unforgettable name in our national history.’
Fakhrul concluded his tribute by seeking eternal peace for the soul of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, highlighting the lasting impact of Bhasani’s efforts on the nation and the continued relevance of his ideals.
