Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today strongly condemned and protested the killing of a young businessman named Mohammad Sohag in broad daylight at the main gate of Mitford Hospital in the capital on July 9. In a statement, he highlighted the brutal nature of the attack, where Sohag was hacked and beaten to death in public, an incident that has shocked the nation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul emphasized that terrorism and barbarity are not aligned with the principles, ideology, and politics of their organization. He asserted that no one, regardless of their identity, should be above the law and justice. The incident has deeply impacted the conscience of the country's populace.
Fakhrul warned that without an exemplary trial for this heinous act, society risks sinking further into a culture of impunity. He called upon the interim government to conduct an immediate, impartial, and credible investigation into the incident.
