Dhaka: Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today called for increasing use of modern water and wastewater treatment technologies for sustainable development. He said this in a meeting with Shailesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Chennai-based multinational water technology company VA Tech Wabag Limited in his office at the Secretariat today, said a ministry press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister emphasized the importance of timely implementation of projects and maintaining quality standards. The meeting focused extensively on the country’s water management strategies, water purification processes, and ensuring the standard of safe drinking water.
A significant portion of the discussion centered on the water quality of the Buriganga River. The minister highlighted the government’s proactive initiatives to prevent pollution in the country’s rivers. Local Government Division Secretary Shahidul Hasan and senior officials of the ministry were present at the meeting.
