Detective Branch of Police (DB) seized around 20 lakh counterfeit medicines in separate drives and detained 10 members of a gang including the leader.
A team of Kotwali zone under Lalbag of Dhaka Metropolitan Police conducted the drives at Mitford in the capital, in Savar, and Cumilla separately on Sunday.
The detainees are Kabir Hossain, 44, Ainul Islam, 32, Morshed Alam Shaon, 35, Al Amin Chanchal, 35, Sagar, 19, Abir, 21, Rubel, 23, Nazim Uddin, 42, Tawhid, 28, and Parvez 32.
The law enforcement agency seized the counterfeit medicines from their possessions, said a media release on Monday.
During primary interrogation, the detainees said they used to sell the fake medicines of various renowned brands across the country through courier service.
Cases have been filed with Kotwali police station in this regard, it added.
