Chittagong: Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) has imposed a fine of Tk 4 lakh on a factory for allegedly manufacturing adulterated margarine in an unregistered manner, posing risks to human health and the environment. The penalty follows a raid on ‘Quality Food Products Limited’, located in the Sultan Colony area of Agrabad.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the raid was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Masuma Akhter Kona. The owner of the factory was fined Tk 4 lakh under sections 33 and 39 of the Safe Food Act, 2013, with the payment collected immediately.
Safe Food Officer Farhanur Rahman highlighted that various shortcomings were identified in the required registration and safe food management practices at the facility. The production of food in unhygienic conditions presents a significant threat to public health.
Efforts, including campaigns and legal actions against such establishments, will persist to guarantee safe food for consumers.
