Fact-Checking Workshop Educates 300 Students at Rajshahi University

Rajshahi: A ‘Fact-Checking Workshop’ was held today at the University Senate Building, organized by the Media and Publication Department of the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU). Around 300 students participated in the workshop, which aimed to make students aware and skilled in preventing misinformation and rumors.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the workshop ran from 2:15 PM to 6:00 PM and was chaired by Md. Mujahid Islam, RUCSU’s Media and Publication Secretary, and moderated by Assistant Media and Publication Secretary Asadullah Galib. Kadruddin Shishir, Editor of the investigative news outlet The Dissent, served as the trainer, providing hands-on training on various fact-checking techniques, methods of information verification, and how to identify rumors in digital media.



Professor Main Uddin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration), attended the event as the chief guest. Also present were RUCSU VP Mostakur Rahman Zahid, GS Salahuddin Ammar, AGS Salman Sabbir, along with various RUCSU secretaries, assistant secretaries, and executive members. Representatives from different journalist organizations of the university also participated in the workshop.



Certificates were distributed to the participants at the end of the workshop, marking the successful completion of the event.
