Dhaka: The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi (SM), marking the birthday of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, will be observed nationwide on August 26 with extensive national-level programs. The government has initiated a series of events to ensure the day is celebrated with religious solemnity, fervor, and enthusiasm.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programs were finalized during an inter-ministerial meeting on August 13, chaired by Religious Affairs Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad. The meeting saw participation from Director General of Islamic Foundation Mufti Muhammad Muhibbullahil Baqi, Additional Secretary (Hajj) Dr. Ayatul Islam, Additional Secretary (Administration) Md. Imtiaz Hossain, and representatives from various ministries and agencies.
To commemorate the day, the President and the Prime Minister will release separate messages. National flags will be prominently displayed at government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, private establishments, and armed forces installations. In addition, key traffic islands, light posts, and major city points will be adorned with national and colorful flags and banners featuring the Kalima Tayyiba.
Special prayers will be conducted in mosques across the country, including the Bangladesh Secretariat Mosque. Additionally, discussions and prayer sessions will be organized by divisional, district, and upazila administrations, city corporations, municipalities, and the armed forces.
The Islamic Foundation is set to host waz mahfils, seminars, and talk shows, along with competitions in qirat, hamd-naat, poem recitation, and Arabic sermon writing. A month-long Islamic book fair will also be held at the south plaza of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
Broadcast media such as Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar, along with other electronic outlets, have been asked to air special programs. Newspapers are scheduled to publish commemorative supplements. Various organizations will conduct events focusing on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Islam’s message of peace, progress, and human rights.
The Bangladesh Shishu Academy will offer special programs for children, including hamd-naat, discussions, and essay competitions. Improved meals will be provided at military and civil hospitals, prisons, government orphanages, child development centers, and old-age homes. Bangladesh missions abroad will also observe the day respectfully.
Relevant ministries and departments have been tasked with ensuring peace and maintaining law and order during the observance of Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
