Dhaka: The body of Mosammat Mariam Khatun, the 19-year-old second wife of Satkhira-4 MP GM Nazrul Islam, was discovered hanging at NAM Bhaban in Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area on Sunday evening, local police confirmed.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Officer-in-Charge Monir Hossain of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station reported that law enforcement officials promptly responded to the scene after being alerted to the situation. Upon arrival, they found Mariam's body suspended from a ceiling fan in a room located in Flat No. 203 on the third floor of Building No. 5 at NAM Bhaban.
In a coordinated effort to gather evidence, teams from the Detective Branch, Police Bureau of Investigation, and the Criminal Investigation Department's forensic unit were dispatched to the site. OC Hossain mentioned that, as of 8:10 p.m., authorities were attempting to gain access to the flat by forcefully opening the door. At that time, they had not yet determined the exact circumstances or timing of Mariam's alleged suicide.
