Expatriates’ Welfare Minister Instructs Officials to Prepare Six-Month Priority Task List

Dhaka: Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury today instructed the concerned officials to prepare a priority list of tasks that can be accomplished within the next six months. He gave this directive at an introductory meeting with the officials and employees of the ministry on his first working day at the Probashi Kallyan Bhaban. State Minister Md Nurul Hoque was present on the occasion.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ariful Haque urged the officials to carry out the ministry’s work with sincerity, emphasizing the importance of meeting the people’s expectations in building a new Bangladesh. He highlighted the need for a specific list detailing how many expatriates have been assisted for their welfare and rights protection. This list should include details such as the countries they came from, the number of expatriates from each area, and who received assistance.



The minister also addressed the issue of the closed international labor market, directing officials to prepare a report outlining the reasons for its closure, the steps taken so far, and the necessary actions required to reopen it. He emphasized the urgency of preparing such a report.



State Minister Md Nurul Hoque, at the same meeting, stressed the importance of supporting those who go abroad for work, often at great personal cost. He advocated for treating expatriates well and handling their work with sincerity. He also noted the importance of ensuring remittances are sent through legal channels in today’s digital age, highlighting the commitment to move the country forward with sincerity and honesty, seeking cooperation from all concerned.



Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Senior Secretary Dr. Neyamat Ullah Bhuiyan, along with senior officials of the ministry and its departments and agencies, were present at the meeting. Earlier, the senior secretary and other senior officials welcomed the minister and the state minister to the ministry.
